What goes wrong with hats and short hair
Short hair gives a hat less to sit on. A hat that's too big slides down to your eyebrows, a heavy crown flattens the lift at your roots, and a rough band leaves a dent or flicks the ends of a bob out of place. And with a short cut, the hat is front and center.
What to look for in hats for short hair
A fit that doesn't rely on hair. Measure your head, not your hairstyle. One adjustable size is the easy answer if you measure small.
A shape that frames your face. Wide brims and visors frame a pixie or bob; fedoras and bucket hats add shape without hiding your cut.

Sizing
Measure around your head, just above the ears. Fedoras, sun hats and the Sasha come in two sizes: Medium fits 56.5–58 cm (22.2–22.8 in) and Large fits 58.5–60 cm (23.0–23.6 in). With short hair, choose the size you measure rather than sizing up. If you measure under 56.5 cm (22.2 in), start with an adjustable style: the Veloura caps and the Eos come in one adjustable size, and the Eclipse adjusts from 55–63 cm (21.7–24.8 in). Style your hair and let it dry fully first. Set the hat on from the front hairline back, and wear it slightly back on your head to show your fringe or face-framing pieces. When you take it off, lift straight up and rework the roots with your fingertips.
