What goes wrong with hats and color-treated hair
A fresh balayage or gloss looks polished when the hair lies smooth. A rough hat lining works against that: it drags across the surface every time the hat shifts, and when it comes off there's frizz along the band and a roughed-up crown.
What to look for in hats for color-treated hair
A smooth lining. Every Damazo hat is lined in 22-momme, OEKO-TEX® certified 100% mulberry silk where it touches your hair, designed to help reduce friction and frizz and to be gentle on your hair's natural moisture.
Room to move. A crown with space lets your hair sit rather than press flat. The Soteria fedoras have a 6 in (15.2 cm) crown.
Shade for you. A wide brim shades your face, neck and part line on long days outside.

Sizing
Fedoras, sun hats and the Sasha come in Medium, 56.5–58 cm (22.2–22.8 in), and Large, 58.5–60 cm (23.0–23.6 in). Between sizes, choose Large for a more relaxed fit. The Veloura caps, Eclipse and Eos are one adjustable size. Read more about the lining in why silk works.

Start with the lining, since it's the part that rubs against your hair all day. Every Damazo hat is lined in 22-momme mulberry silk, designed to help reduce friction and frizz. For long days outside, the wide-brim Soleil Classic and Refined sun hats shade your face, neck and part line. For hair worn up, try the Eclipse open-top sun hat.
Measure around your head with your hair styled the way you wear it: Medium fits 56.5–58 cm (22.2–22.8 in) and Large fits 58.5–60 cm (23.0–23.6 in). If you're between sizes, choose Large. The Veloura caps, Eclipse and Eos come in one adjustable size; the Eclipse adjusts from 55–63 cm (21.7–24.8 in). Size exchanges are free.
Wait until your hair is completely dry. Set the hat at your front hairline and ease it back, rather than pulling it down over the lengths. To take it off, lift straight up by the brim, then smooth the top with your palms.

Let it air-dry away from direct heat if it gets damp, keep straw styles out of soaking rain, and store it where the crown and brim won't be crushed so the shape and the silk lining stay smooth.
